Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra are gaining quite a reputation for their big and bold projects. Their next concert may be the biggest and boldest yet as they join forces with the fantastic winners of the Yorkshire Brass Band Championships 2026, Hepworth Band. This tour de force is coming to your very own Huddersfield Town Hall on Saturday 18th April.
Under the direction of Benjamin Ellin, the performance commences with just the brass and timpani in a rare performance of the virtuosic Festmusik der Stadt Wien by Richard Strauss, regarded by some as his finest brass ensemble writing.
This will be followed by the award-winning Concerto Grosso for Brass Band and Orchestra by Gavin Higgins. The stage will be tightly packed with the fabulous Hepworth Band taking centre stage in the first Yorkshire performance of the work.
After the interval Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra bring one of the biggest and most glorious works of Richard Strauss, Ein Heldenleben to the Huddersfield Town Hall stage. This will be a spectacular concert and very much be a night to remember.
There will be a pre-concert talk in the hall at 18.30 which is free to all ticket holders.
