We conclude with a visit to Spain, Alice Mary Smith’s delightful Symphony in a minor and Mahler’s First Symphony, ‘Titan’. Written while still a student, it arguably contains a great many of the musical seeds for the even bigger and more ground-breaking symphonies that he would go on to compose.
